What is Jalabhishek?

Jalabhishek is the ancient Vedic ritual of offering holy water to the Shivlinga while chanting sacred mantras during an auspicious Muhurt. It is one of the simplest yet most deeply meaningful acts of devotion to Lord Shiva. The offering of water - particularly Ganga jal in a copper vessel - is believed to purify the water and the soul of the devotee simultaneously.

Jalabhishek at Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga holds exceptional merit. This is the last Jyotirlinga, and water offered here is believed to carry the combined blessings of all 12 Jyotirlingas. It is open to all devotees regardless of age or gender.
